Asus Motherboard Issue?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can lend assistance. I am trying to determine if I have a faulty motherboard? I bought one of your Zeus computers, and after a great deal of waiting and a huge bill, I get the following:

After the system arrived, I attempted to start the pc. The fans move, including the processor and Video Card fans. But nothing appears on the screen. There are NO AUDIBLE BEEPS to alert of ram or other problems. I tried disconnecting all non-essential devices (hard drive etc) but still the same problem. I tried making sure the ram and video cards were seeded properly, but still no luck. I also made sure the monitor worked of course. The power light indicator on the motherboard is lit, but nothing seems to happen. Any ideas?

Did you just try to install it out of the box? Or did you change anything?

Yeah Ricky, I've had no problems with my Zeus. It worked fine right out of the box. I've read a lot of reviews and been to a lot of forums, and have never heard of one just not working like that. Perhaps it got damaged in transit? Did you open it up? Was anything loose?

Nope, nothing's loose. I've built my own computers before. The only reason I wanted this one is due to Predator's 3 year warranty. Funny thing is that if there's a quick fix, then I don't want to have to ship this sumbitch all the way back.

I did discover something interesting. The fans in the system will only turn if the CPU power plug is not connected. If connected the pc will not do anything. The fans will start to turn for about a quarter of a second and then nothing. My hunch is a problem with the CPU. Any help with that one?

It is possible...that was in the back of my mind. You should double check to make sure that the processor heatsink is properly and firmly cliped down on all sides of the motherboard mounting bracket.

So you don't think it's a motherboard issue? CPU perhaps is faulty? Are you sure you didn't mess with anything? It could have been some minor issue you overlooked. Then when you were trying to figure out what was wrong you messed something else up?

I've been monitoring this post for a little while. It seems like a possible power surge. This assumes of course that you didn't tamper with anything. I mean you could have overclocked the processor and burnt it out, had a surge and fried everything, or even run power over ethernet by accident to the onboard network card. We usually work with a tech repair guy in your area, and will send him over free of charge ASAP to look at it.

We always test everything before our computers leave the factory, but accidents do happen. We just want you to get online with your new computer. I'll be in touch.
